Our Brainspotting Approach

Where you look affects how you feel.

Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing, and releasing core neurobiological sources of emotional or physical pain, trauma, and dissociation. By finding the 'Brainspot' - a specific eye position that activates a traumatic memory or painful emotion- we can access parts of the brain where healing can happen most deeply.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, Brainspotting engages the deep, subcortical brain where memories are stored in a non-verbal format. This allows us to process experiences at the root, leading to more sustainable relief from symptoms like anxiety, PTSD, and chronic stress.

Deep neural healing and nervous system regulation are available for both deep individual work and connected couples therapy sessions.

What Is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is a gentle, brain- and body-based therapy that uses eye positions to access and release stored trauma and emotional stress. It is a deeply focused method that allows you to process experiences at a neurobiological level, often reaching roots that traditional talk therapy might not reach- all without needing to find the words or retell every painfully detailed moment of your story.

How Brainspotting Supports Your Healing

This approach is designed for survivors of trauma and those navigating persistent anxiety or relationship triggers. If you have ever felt 'stuck' or found that your body reacts before your mind can catch up, Brainspotting helps bridge that gap. By emphasizing nervous system regulation and relational healing, it creates space for your brain to find its own natural path toward integration, safety, and resilience.

Is Brainspotting Right for Me?

You don’t have to have a perfect story or the right words to begin. Brainspotting offers a safer, slower way to heal that respects your internal pace and privacy. This can be a restorative way to process what feels heavy, letting your system find its way back to balance. If you are curious about how this could help you, we are here to support you in taking that next step whenever you feel ready.

Still have questions about Brainspotting? We're here to help you feel comfortable before you take the next step.

What is Brainspotting and how does it work?

Brainspotting is a therapeutic method that utilizes eye positions which correlate to neurophysiological ‘spots’ in the brain where trauma or emotional distress is stored. By holding these eye positions while processing thoughts and feelings, it allows the deeper, subcortical brain to resolve issues that traditional talk therapy might not reach.

Do I need to talk about my trauma in detail during a session?

No. One of the primary advantages of Brainspotting is that it can be effective without a high degree of verbalization. While you are welcome to share as much as you like, the core of the work happens internally as your nervous system processes and integrates the experience.

Is Brainspotting effective through online therapy?

Yes. Providing Brainspotting virtually is very effective. We utilize specific techniques to help you find your eye positions at home.

How many Brainspotting sessions will I need?

While every individual journey is unique, Brainspotting is known for being a relatively efficient technique. Some clients notice significant shifts in just a few sessions, while others use it as a long-term tool for ongoing nervous system regulation, processing complex trauma, or working towards desired goals.

Can Brainspotting help with sports or creative blocks?

Absolutely. Brainspotting is widely used by athletes and performers to overcome performance anxiety and mental blocks. By processing the neurophysiological tension associated with the block, it can help restore a sense of flow and confidence.
